Turning Point celebrated its 40th Anniversary in March of 2012. Geri Dorr has been responsible for the day to day operations of Turning Point for 38 of those 40 years. She has grown the agency from a small non-profit with an operating budget of 90k to the an agency employing over 280 employees with an annual operating budget of just over 12 million dollars. Quite an accomplishment!
Geri has been a past president of the Rotary Club of Newburyport Club. She has been actively involved in Yankee Homecoming since 1980. She was the first female Chairwoman in 1989 and currently sits on their Board of Directors.
She is a member of the Newbury Council on Aging, and sits on the Occupational and Human Services Advisory Board of Northern Essex Community College.
Geri is a Corporator at Anna Jaques Hospital and a Corporator at the Newburyport Five Cent Savings bank.
Geri is a registered nurse and holds licenses as a social worker and forensic counselor.
All of these skills combined with her passion for giving back to the community have helped shape the success of the agency.
Elizabeth Abby Stearns,
Vice President of Program Services
Betty Abby Stearns began working at Turning Point in 1988. She held positions as Residential Program Nurse and Director of Clinical Services and was promoted to Vice President of Program Services in 2000. Betty oversees the programmatic, clinical and administrative components for 30 residences for individuals with developmental disabilities and 30 people in individual support services as well as the Safe Recovery and Main Stream Housing Program for women who are victims of domestic violence and have substance abuse issues.
Betty has an Associates Degree in Nursing and is an RN. Since 1973 she has also worked at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport as an Administrative Nursing Supervisor. She has close ties to the medical community in the area as well as strong administrative and clinical skills.

Michelle Ault Fichera,
Vice President of Operations
Michelle joined Turning Point, Inc. in 1997, as Director of Human Resources and was promoted to Vice President of Operations, in November of 2000. Michelle oversees the acquisition, renovation and furnishing of our programs and in addition she is responsible for overseeing our fleet of vehicles, property maintenance, Human Resources, legal, our HUD 811 programs, and collaborates with finance on various projects.
Michelle has an Associates Degree in Marketing, a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, and an MBA from Franklin Pierce University. She holds her Construction Supervisor’s License, Home Improvement Contractor’s License and is a licensed Real Estate Sales Person.
Michelle is a Past President and current member of the Amesbury Rotary club, and is a Corporator at the Newburyport Five Cent Savings Bank.
