Direct Support Staff

Supports mentally retarded individuals in residential settings by assisting and supervising individuals with daily living activities such as hygiene, household chores, cooking, shopping, banking and other community activities. Follows dietary and behavioral plans. Completes communication logs, shift notes, incident reports, and medical administration documentation. May transport individuals to and from medical, dental, psychiatric and other appointments, as required.

All Direct Support Staff must be certified or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications prior to working in our residential group homes. Turning Point, Inc. offers free classroom and on the job training for the required certifications and skills required for this role.

Group residence locations include: Merrimack Valley: Amesbury, Merrimack, Newburyport, and Salisbury. North Shore: Beverly, Danvers, Middleton, Peabody and Salem.

Full, part time and relief openings are available on an early morning, second shift, and awake overnight basis.

Experienced residential Direct Support Staff are encouraged to apply, as well as candidates with a willingness to learn and a desire to provide support to individuals with disabilities. Some positions require behavior modification skills and experience working with mentally retarded adults with a history of intensive behaviors.
