Relief Direct Support Staff

Position:
Relief Direct Support - Residential Group Homes

Location: 

Merrimack Valley: Amesbury, Merrimac, Newburyport, Salisbury

North Shore: Beverly, Boxford, Danvers, Middleton, Peabody, Salem, Topsfield

Schedule:
Full or Part Time (8 hours to 40 hours per week)

Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily living support for adults with intellectual & developmental disabilities adults in a casual, friendly, residential group home environment
  • Work FT or PT or as little as (8) hours per week
  • Teach, empower and encourage the individuals to be self-confident, reliant, and to make positive contributions to their communities
  • Provide support for bathing, dressing, personal hygiene and individual goals (some opportunities do not require personal hygiene care)
  • Assist with meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, and transportation to community activities, appointments and recreational outings, shopping, restaurants and other activities
  • Education/Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma (GED)or higher education
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Interest and/or experience working with adults with disabilities
  • Ability to follow behavioral support plans (in some programs)
  • Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend works assignments in English
  • Basic math skills for counting and recording money
  • Ability to perform moderate lifting, and frequent walking

Physical Demands

  • Must have the physical ability to stand frequently during the day, engage in repeated stooping or bending at the waist
  • Ability to go up and down stairs several times during the shift
  • Ability to safely support, pivot, physically move or assist a person weighing up to 100+ lbs.(in some programs) during daily living activities, with or without assistance
  • Ability to physically ensure the safety of all individuals in the program by participating in established behavioral interventions, as required
  • Ability to drive 4-6 passenger van for transportation (after training) of individuals to day programs, community activities and other engagements, as required
